Document Scanning
Kestrel IDM provides a complete
document scanning and management service within the Integrated Data
Management solution framework. There are two main ways by which the scanning
service is normally provided:
- As a
scan-on-demand service whereby individual documents requested for
retrieval from store are scanned, hosted locally on a server and delivered
electronically to the customer.
- As part of a
legacy archive conversion process designed to systematically scan
all documents in store, replacing hardcopy originals with image files so as
to reduce stored data volume and improve accessibility and usability.
With either approach, once the documents are
scanned they are sent for deep archival storage or destruction through
recycling. Over a short time the client sees significant volume reduction
and accessibility improvements with their hardcopy data.
Kestrel IDM has a large number of
small and large-format scanners providing effective capture of reports and
technical documents such as well logs or seismic sections. Additionally, we
have more specialised equipment including scanners for handling photographs,
35mm slides, roll microfilm and microfiche.
