Kestrel has delivered Information & Data Management Services in over 50 countries. Some of the our largest and most challenging successes are described below.

Scan-on-Demand & Active File Storage

Kestrel IDM works with several international airlines, providing item-level retrieval of critical aircraft maintenance records, and utilising our scan-on-demand and electronic delivery services.

Indexing & Auditing

A major avionics MRO has a requirement to maintain hundreds of thousands of maintenance records all of which are required to be accessible. Through scanning, OCR and auto indexing. Kestrel IDM has created a system to capture each unique record for instant retrieval the moment it is required.

Retention Management

A national insurance group has applied a corporate retention strategy to control the volume (and cost) of records that they store with us. Kestrel IDM regularly flags records that are due for destruction, and upon customer approval, Kestrel IDM securely destroys records that are no longer required.

Secure Destruction

A major oil and gas contractor worked with Kestrel IDM to securely destroy legacy magnetic tape reels in a cost effective, secure and environmentally responsible manner. To date, more than 50,000 reels of half inch tape have been destroyed.

Large format scanning, Indexing & Auditing

Kestrel IDM scanned and indexed over 300,000 seismic sections for a multi-national oil company that needed access to this data from a variety of offices around the world.

Document Scanning, Large Format Scanning, & Secure Destruction

Kestrel IDM scanned all case files for a national building inspection and regulatory company, each file comprising a mixture of A4 to A0 pages. Searchable digital files were delivered to the client while the physical files were securely destroyed after scanning, QC and verification.

SEISMIC DATA LOADING

A multinational oil company that has historically stored their seismic tapes with us, is now using our Quality Control, Auditing and Loading Services to selectively populate their own Cloud space, using transportable, petabyte-capable storage devices. The physical tapes are being remastered and retained as their ultimate physical backup.

Outsourcing Digital Media Storage & Seismic Tape Transcription

A major oil & gas services company has engaged the services of Kestrel IDM for over a decade to rationalise and protect their data holdings. Kestrel IDM has decreased the client’s digital media library from over 650,000 unique items to just over 2,000 items by transcription of high-density media, whilst employing rigorous QC and verification procedures. Data access has dramatically improved, and ongoing data storage costs have been significantly reduced.

STUDIES & WAREHOUSE DESIGN

As part of a World Bank funded project Kestrel IDM designed and consulted on the construction of a national oil and gas data centre in West Africa. As data was repatriated Kestrel IDM established procedures and systems to ensure this national resource was secured.

Survey, Design & Implementation Project

Kestrel IDM mobilised a project team to audit 500,000 data items over multiple data stores and libraries and created 4,000 digital well files for a major national oil company in the Middle East.

Records Management Programme Implementation Project

Kestrel IDM have designed and implemented a corporate records management programme for a multinational oil company in South East Asia. This programme addressed corporate records classification and retention scheduling, records storage and disposition, identification of vital records and business continuity planning.

Training Programmes

Kestrel IDM has designed and delivered Training Programmes for Data Technicians and Managers from a number of National Oil Companies in North and West Africa. Course modules included Data Centre Operations, Scanning & Indexing Project Management, and Tape Transcription Services Management.
